2015-10-27 Tucacas – Puerto Cabello

I went straight to the cyber but my girlfriend looked at me with sad eyes and told me that the server was still down. It was market day today in Tucacas and this would give me at least something to look at instead of walking up and down the main street. The market was big and to complete a full round I needed one hour. I remembered the market in Guiria and Georgetown; a market day brings all kind of people to the streets. The mixture of exotic people and exotic products is always an interesting change to the nature, the historical buildings, the architecture, the museums, the mountains or even the white sand beaches.

Tucacas

I walked the market once and arrived back at the main street. I could not resist and had a Colombian potato. I went back to the cyber and just the quick look of my girlfriend said no. I walked the market again, this time against the clock. The market had become very busy and with lunchtime ahead, the food stands became even busier. The smell was all over the market and I wanted to try something. I did not identify something new or tasty. I arrived at the main street again and went for my second Colombian potato. The cyber had closed for the day, exhausted from telling hundreds of children the reality that they would without Facebook access today again. How does a teenager feel after a Sunday plus a Monday and a Tuesday without Facebook?

I did not want to wait another day in Tucacas and wanted to move on. I had been at the National Park Morrocoy now for almost two weeks. I drove just one hour to the city of Puerto Cabello. After so many days of nature I wanted to see some history again.

Puerto Cabello had plenty to offer, the whole port area was of historic Spanish origin and well preserved. I had a slow walk in the midday heat and a good look at some of the old houses who had been reformed and transformed into businesses, posada or restaurant or Spanish bank.

Puerto Cabello

I could not resist looking for a cyber in the port area and the center. I entered two cyber at the port but they did not have a cable for me. I entered two cyber in the center but they did not have a cable for me. I spent one hour or two looking for a cyber in a city of 250.000 population but they did not have a cyber for me to work. I liked Puerto Cabello but I wanted to give my favorite cyber in Tucacas a last chance. I will come back to you Puerto Cabello with more patience and will have a look at your castle and your beaches.

I drove back the fifty kilometers to Tucacas, had a Shwarma and a 7up, had an ice cream for desert and went to the hospital parking. Tonight for the first time I listened to a family mourning about a relative here at the hospital. I felt with the family and at the same time memories of my own appeared. Rest in Peace whoever left Tucacas this night, Rest in Peace my family and friends that have gone and Rest in Peace all of you that had the pleasure to live a life as a human soul on this wonderful planet.
