It’s a Fine Day is a poem written by English poet and musician Edward Barton when living in Manchester.

It was originally recorded a cappella in 1983 by Jane Lancaster, Barton’s girlfriend.

In 1992, the song was covered by Opus III, whose lead vocalist was Kirsty Hawkshaw (in the video with her standout shaved head and bodysuit).

The song became an international hit, charting in 14 countries.

It’s going to be a fine night tonight

It’s a fine day
People open windows
They leave the houses
Just for a short walk

It’s going to be a fine night tonight
It’s going to be a fine day tomorrow

You‘ve got that look again
The one I hoped I had when I was a lad
Your face is just beaming
Your smile got me boasting, my pulse roller-coastering

You know I’d do most anything you want
Hey I, I try to give You everything You need
I can see that it gets to You

I don’t believe in may things
But in You I do

Her faith is amazing
The pain that she goes through contained in the hope for you

As we stand there totally krossed out
We commence to make you
The Mac Dad’ll make you
The Daddy Mac’ll make you
