The bus had been half full; still the operator had booked all people to the front and together. Before we had left Manaus I had picked an empty row, two seats together, had entered in my sleeping back and had tried to sleep, with reasonable success. We arrived at the bus terminal at 07:00 hours in the morning and I walked to the stadium Arena de Amazonia, which had been built exclusively for the world cup.

Together with Natal and Fortaleza, Manaus had been a world cup city which did not have a first division football team and the stadium had been pretty much without use since the world cup, still it was new, impressive and worth having a visit and taking pictures.

While I was taking pictures I was looking with the other eye towards the other side of the street hoping to catch the bus to the airport. I had just enough time to take the pictures and then had to run across the street to catch the bus 306 to the airport. The airport was quiet during the morning; the majority of the flights were in the evening and around midnight.

My flight to Fortaleza as well was only at midnight and I had all day at the airport terminal to connect to the internet and continue working on the project Rio 2016. Only half an hour internet was free and then you had to buy credit through an operator. I was pretty much behind, more than two weeks and I did not know how much time I would really have to continue working while I am with my baby Matilda.

I bought a plan for six hours and started working. The queue did not get smaller because at the same time I wanted to catch up on the world news, the results of the German Bundesliga and speak to family and friends in Europe. The feeling of hunger entered my mind or my body, a coincidence that it was actually close to lunch. The airport did not offer too many options for lunch, Bobs Burger, Pizza Hut and a Café. I decided for Bobs Burger, the Hamburger Trio with refill for fifteen Reales. I had spent almost three month in Venezuela and had gotten used to the cheap prices there, certain things were very expensive or simply not available but the cost of living was extremely cheap and now I had to get used to higher prices again here in Brazil and even higher here at the airport.

The first six hours had passed and I renewed the plan with the operator and had internet access up to the time of my flight to Fortaleza. The feeling for hunger entered my body, a coincidence that it was actually close to dinner. I decided again for Bobs Burger, the Hamburger Trio with refill for fifteen Reales. At any other restaurant or shop within the airport just the can of Coca Cola was seven Reales, so the option at Bobs Burger for the Trio with refill was the most economic and what can I say, I am also one of the billion people in the world who somehow like this fast food.

It was getting close to midnight and I had to check in; the flight from Manaus to Fortaleza will be a quick and big step towards my baby Matilda. I had five minutes left of internet when I heard the call for all passengers to embark the plane. I said good bye to Manaus, good bye to my project Rio 2016 and good bye to the reader, you and me.
