If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody. – Chinese saying
There are moments in your life when you realize the true meaning of life and its impact on others. One such feeling is the ‘joy of giving’. At times you realize that acquiring some ‘gain’ gives less pleasure than ‘parting away and giving it to someone who is really in need’.
It gives immense pleasure which one can only experience but is very hard to explain. You are never at loss by sharing. Pursuit of attaining something in excess leads you to nowhere and ultimately causes stress.
Sharing is not all about money or wealth.
The gift of time is often more valuable to the receiver and more satisfying for the giver than the gift of money. We do not all have the same amount of money, but we all do have time, and can give some of this time to help others – whether you devote your lifetimes to service, or give a few hours each day or a few days a year.
Generosity is only one aspect. It is about kindness, helpfulness, sacrifice, unselfishness, giving, service, Love etc. It is more blessed to give than to receive. When you do good to others, you receive great happiness.
Helping others may be the secret to living a life that is not only happier but also healthier, wealthier, more productive, and meaningful. Your passion should be the foundation for your giving. It is not how much you give, but how much Love you put into giving.
Sharing is caring. Giving is living.
