The Price of Consumerism / Der Preis des Konsums / O preço do Consumismo / El precio del Consumismo

Consumerism is at the heart of the matter. You crave for more and more in life, you do not care about the damage cost or the opportunity loss you might have to sustain. Consumerism undermines your quality of life.

Consumerism affects your everyday happiness and psychological health. People whose values center on the accumulation of wealth or material possessions face a greater risk of unhappiness

Anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and problems with intimacy – regardless of age, income, or culture.

If you define yourself by your possessions, there is no peace of mind as you will spend your entire life chasing something impossible to obtain.

There will always be something better and more expensive entering the market that you absolutely must have.

The chase will never end, and neither will all the stress and anxiety it carries with it. This is not how life is supposed to be. You are not supposed to be miserable.

The World you live in is incredibly superficial, and many marketers will use any means necessary to get you to buy. Why? It is not something you should worry about because it is beyond your control.

It is your job to be more aware so when it comes to a purchasing decision you can decipher between the pros and the cons, and whether it is right for you or just plain ludicrous.

They do not want you thinking because they know the more you think, the less likely you are to buy which is why so much emphasis is placed on getting that quick sale.

Once you assert self-control and the willpower to think, you might conclude that you will experience a range of negative emotions such as uncertainty, doubt, and stress after that initial hit of dopamine subsides, and therefore choose not to buy.

It is exhausting. Just be you and you can not go wrong. If people can not accept you for this, that is their problem.

Plus, you have the added bonus and luxury of no longer having to walk around living a lie while trying to be someone else.

Get too caught up in all the mayhem and you will lose all sense of purpose for why you are here: to enjoy the ride and have some fun.
