I arrived early at the center and the docks of Chichiriviche and was ready for the day. I had checked three times this morning to make sure my memory card was in the camera. I waited again for one hour before the first tourists arrived to negotiate their tour. My driver had sales people working for commission at different points of the village, at the entrance, on the main road and at the square of the docks. They managed to close the deal for Cayo Sombrero to earn some money today and delivered a group of four people, two couples.

We arrived earlier at Cayo Sombrero than yesterday and I found the island even emptier. I knew the island by now and went straight to the locations that I had avoided yesterday because people had already occupied the sunbeds or the water. I took quickly some pictures and realized after reviewing them that most people have a common taste and had chosen these spots because of their immaculate beauty of transparent and turquoise water rolling smoothly onto a white, white sand beach.

The island was just big enough to explore in a day which I had done already yesterday. I had walked every centimeter of the beach twice and of the mangroves once. Today’s pick-up time was agreed for 14:00 and so I still had plenty of time to do nothing. This was quite a challenge for me. I had been used to constant new input in the form of driving, walking or talking. I tried to sit still but impossible and I decided for walking. I actually needed to walk a bit more again in order to be prepared for mountain of Roraima. I had decided on what to do for the next thirty days. First I wanted to stay for a couple of more days here in the National Park Morrocoy and then slowly drive back to the border with some stops at other beaches or National Parks. I had to go back to Brazil to get money. Being at the border I wanted to inquire about the price for a package to climb up the mountain of Roraima and hopefully make it up to the top.

A group of visitors from inland Venezuela who practiced dancing on one of the landing docks helped me to spend the last half an hour. Today my driver arrived on time but did not mention anything about the rough sea we would have on our way back. I picked the wrong seat, actually the worst seat and the result was that I got completely wet. It is a little bit uncomfortable; it is not cold at an air temperature of around 34 degrees.

I arrived at the center without the chance to change my clothes before getting into the car. I decided to take off the wet clothes and use a warm stone bench on the center square to dry my shirt and the towel. I turned towards the restaurant and noticed the amount of people standing outside, but watching the TV inside. I remembered that it was Champions League today and joined in the group to watch Real Madrid playing Paris Saint Germain.  I was hoping more to get some information on my home team who were playing Juventus Turin at the same time.

No information at half time and unfortunately the owner switched immediately to another sports channel after the game to watch the Baseball series. Sports fans of Venezuela have an equal split interest in these two sports, football and baseball. I had an equal split interest in these two meals for dinner for tonight, Hamburger menu or Pizza with ham. I had to settle with a Hot Dog.
