I did not sleep very well, too many things on my mind, too many uncertainties and always my baby Matilda. She was in good hands with her aunt, I had been in very good hands with my aunt, still I did not really like the idea that she was now without her mother and without her father. And I did not really like the idea of the computer not recognizing the memory card so I walked to the bus stop, took a bus to the center, drove to the commercial mall “Parque Central” and waited in front of shop 89. My analysis was that they did not build the computer back together properly and had forgotten to connect the cable to the memory card input. I had to be careful, I did not want to insult the doctor but I also did not want to pay for their mistake.

The doctor opened the computer again and I watched closely every move of his hands. The computer was open, my eyes focused on the corner of the memory card input; first his eyes and then his hands pointed to corner of the memory card input and we both saw at the same time that the cable was not connected. The mistake had been found, the doctor connected the cable and built the computer back together, inserted the memory card and the computer gave the signal that he recognized the source.

Now with the computer fixed and really, really back to normal again, I relaxed a little bit and used the morning to explore the center of Barranquilla. The city was a bit chaotic, very busy, shops, stands, businesses everywhere, businesses for everything and everyone, businesses to improvise and resolve damages immediately.

The churches and squares were quiet hidden and not frequented and what had been historical was now replaced by more businesses. I did not find a new local, tasty, delicious, exotic snack on the streets and walked to the bus station on the main street and took the bus back to the airport to have lunch at the restaurant.

Lunch sounds more sophisticated than the basic snack that I actually always had; Colombian potato and a boiled egg, salt and spicy pepper and a Coca Cola. I had enough energy now to focus on the work; I was back at the recharge station and connected the computer, the light turned on, I entered the memory card and the computer gave the signal that he recognized the source. The computer was ready, I was ready and action. 2 hours work, 15 minutes break, 2 hours work, half an hour dinner at the restaurant, 2 hours work, 15 minutes break, 2 hours work, midnight snack at the restaurant.

The date was coming closer to the end of the month and I had the monthly payments in my head, I was coming closer to the border with Panama and I had the alternative route to Mexico in my head, the day was coming closer for my mother’s birthday and I had my family in my head. I would be waiting until the last minute and hoping for a signal from heaven but I felt that I would stick to the original project Rio 2016 and the original route. I had lost a month due to the decision of the president of Venezuela to close the border and could not lose another month or 2 going back and forth to Mexico. I had my friend the car waiting for me in Boa Vista and my baby Matilda waiting for me in Natal. The computer was back but maybe next time I will have a problem with the recharger, with the battery or with the memory card. How do you know that you are doing the right thing? Does your heart tell you or your mind? Do you have an intuition or do you hear a voice? People kept warning me about my security, friends and family kept recommending me to come home and I am sleeping half the night on a steel bench inside the airport and half the night on a stone bench outside the airport.
