The last job on Earth / Der letzte Job auf der Erde / O último trabalho na Terra / El último trabajo en la Tierra

Machines could take 50% of our jobs in the next 30 years, according to scientists. While we can not predict the future, we can imagine a World without work – one where those who own the tech get rich from it and everyone else ekes out a living, propped up by an increasingly fragile state.

Computers and robots get smarter and smarter all the time. And as they get smarter, more and more normal work gets automated.

There will not be a job that a Human can do that a robot & software can not do better.

So which job is that last job, which is the one that will still require Human insight after everything else has gone away.

Every job can and will be done by machine. It is not a question of if; it is just a question of when.

You are going to push back now and tell me how different Humans are from machines and how long it will actually take for all of this to happen.

Over the next few decades, most routine jobs disappear – farming, transportation, manufacturing, food preparation, construction.

This will cause the price of food and shelter to drop dramatically. Starving artists will stop starving, and we will see a lot more art.

If you are wondering where your job sits on the list of ‘Run for your life, the robots are coming,’ you have a simple, singular mission.

Learn how your job is going to be automated. Learn everything you can about what your job will evolve into and become the very best man-machine partner you can. It is the best way to prepare yourself for the advent of AI.

Do not wait. Everyone will tell you that none of this is happening anytime soon. They are flat wrong. But even if they are right, there is no harm in being better prepared for an inevitable future.
